Our Class Blog List Has Been Updated — Is Your Class Blog on The List?

Look at this!A New Year means time to update the Check out Class Blogs list which has been growing since November, 2008.

About the Class Blog list

It now contains over 200 class blogs, sorted into different categories based on age, subject area and type of blog.

The list was set up so educators can check out different types of class blogs to get ideas for their own class blog while also making connections with classes in other countries.

I’ve worked through ALL the blog URLs in the comments on Calling All CLASS blogs…Please Share Your Blog URL With Us! to:

  • Remove blogs that have been deleted or are no longer active (haven’t updated since Jan, 2009)
  • Insert links to the new Class blog for educators who create a new blog for each school year
  • Add any blogs missing from the list

The list contains amazing examples of Class blogs from around the World!

How To Add Your Class Blog To The List

As Calling All CLASS blogs…Please Share Your Blog URL With Us! post is now over 12 months old, and contains over 250 comments, I’m closing off comments on that post.

Off course I’m still happy to grow our Check out Class Blogs list — I just need to restart the list to make it manageable again 😎

If you want to add your class blog to this list (or update your class blog details) leave a comment on this post to share with us:

  1. Your Class Blog name(s) and URL(s).
  2. Approximate age of students and are they primary, secondary or tertiary?
  3. If applicable, what subject area? e.g. maths, science, language, history, English, Art, Music, ELL, ESL, & EFL
  4. Country

Here’s an example of the type of information needed:

  1. My blog is used as a communication tool for parents and also as a resource for students and teachers. I have listed tons of links that correlate with any subject I am teaching. I post our HW everyday and I also post pictures of things we are doing in the clasroom.
    My URL address is http://lsmall.edublogs.org/
My students are 5th graders, elementary school, about 11-12 years old.
We live in the United States.

This is my first year using a class blog. I use it a bit to post class information, but more to give them practice responding to current event issues and our class topics.

  3. Hi again,

Based on my enthusiasm for starting a class blog this year I have pioneered a “media team” for my whole primary school. This is a team of 13 students who are each responsible for blogging on behalf of one of the primary classes on a “Primary Media Blog”. (As I’m the only teacher blogging with my class at this stage, it gives parents of all students an opportunity to see into their child’s world from a different perspective).

The students who are contributing are from Grade 5 and 6 from our primary school in Tasmania, Australia.

    1. @Tameika, I really like the idea of your media team. Excellent idea!

Please keep us updated with their journey and perhaps one day some of the students might like to do a guest post on The Edublogger about how it is helping both them and the school?

      1. @Sue Waters,
        Thanks Sue,
I will be glad to take you up on this in a couple of months.
The team come out of class once a week to give them time to blog on behalf of their class, and we are into our third session this week. –
I think the momentum is there, however, as I’ve been asked to run a PL session with our High School Staff about my blogging projects. (Basically stumbling through the dark actually) – but learning constantly.
        Tameika

        1. @Tameika, exellent news and activities like this will take time to make momentum. But persistence will see great rewards. There is so much cool stuff they could be doing with it.

  4. Our 5th grade blog has over fifty student created movies. We are working to improve our writing. We create our own scripts, storyboards, and film/edit movies regularly. We’re looking for feedback to improve our skills.

Our students are typically 10 to 11 years old.

    Thanks,

  5. Hi!

We are a Grade 6 class at Secret Harbour Primary School in Western Australia. Students in our class are 10 and 11 years old, and very keen to get started learning about the world of blogging! As we’re also just starting a new school year its been a slow beginning, but students have checked out the blog, practiced with a few comments and we’ve even had family members interacting with our class through the blog already!

Our blog is called ‘Room 17 – Blogs Away!’ and the URL is http://mrsturvey.edublogs.org

    Thanks and happy blogging! 🙂

    1. @NTurvey, Your class blog is coming along really well!

Maybe your students might like to invite The Edublogger to visit your class and school some time?

  6. Hi there!

I have a Grade 2 class (primary level) this year at Leopold Primary School in Geelong, Australia. They are 7/8 year year olds. I have loved introducing them to the blogging world! They are so keen and interested and love sharing the blog with their families. We are only 3 weeks into our school year but I would love to build a global audience through our blog. I team teach with Kathleen McGeady who you often feature here on your site, she has been a great support in helping me develop my blogging skills. Our blog will cover all curriculum areas, particularly Literacy and Numeracy, and also our Integrated topics (which this term is Food).

Our blog is titled 2KJ at Leopold Primary School and the URL is…
    http://2kjblog.globalstudent.org.au/

    Thank you!

    1. @angliakids, Hi Ana – glad the instructions have been helping you!

Definitely! The Student blog challenge is open to any one, from any country, using any blogging platform. How the Student blogging challenge came about was that Sue Wyatt participated in our Comment Challenge a few years ago. She recognised the value of adapting tasks to support educators while they blog with their students.

This is the first time we’ve done weekly tasks prior to the Challenge but from experience we know teachers who organise all those aspects will be better prepared for the Challenge.

For the poll I recommend you write a blog post and then give me the link so I can tweet from the Edublogs Twitter account.

  7. Hi Sue!
As always thanks for all your instructions..so nice. We are still learning and I hope you can help me on the following issues:
Can I participate on the blog challenge? is this open to all countries? Do I need to add something special to my blog besides your weekly guidelines?

I wonder, if you can advice me on where to post an invitation for everybody to visit our blog and participate on a project related on how kids around the world spend their leisure time. I added a poll and I think it will be interesting to know what other kids do and how they can make the most of their free time.

    Thanks a lot!!
    Ana

  8. Hi,

This is my EFL writing class blog, “English for Peace”, where Japanese students (university students around 19 and 20 years old) are waiting to exchange opinions about peace issues, etc. in English with people from different countries.

    http://tamiko.edublogs.org/

On the right margin, there are topics, including social issues in Japan. I’d appreciate your comments!
    Thank you. Arigatoo!

    1. @tamiko, Hello, I run a blog with some students at Shantou University in China. There are also some teachers who use my blog for their classes. I think an exchange with Chinese students and Japanese university students would be enlightening for both!

I like your blog! I also used to work in Japan.

  10. Our blog is designed to highlight student learning in our Integrated Learning Lab. We are a public elementary magent school (grades PreK-5) with the magnet themes of science, mathematics, and communications. Our goal this year was to increase our use of technology to better integrate our communication strand into our science and math strands.

I am the resrouce teacher in the iLab and a blog newbie. So far, I have created pages for every grade level and for special programs throughout our school. I’m hoping to move towards a more interactive experience as I become more familiar with all of the options possible. I really enjoy perusing other elementary blogs to get ideas – thanks for this forum.

  11. Hi,
we have just started a new ENHANCED PROVISION blog. School children in the EP department of a mainstream Primary School present themselves to the world, just as they are: dreams, pictures, stories, opinions, comments. All the material is by the children themselves, including photos and pictures.

This is a real fun site.

    Richard.
